2017-13020 Board Eligible Clinician US-NC-Raleigh

The Board Eligible Clinician has completed their O&P education and clinician residency requirements as determined by National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE). Under supervision, direct progressing to indirect, the Board Eligible Clinician provides comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care providing a high level of customer service. This includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management.


The Board Eligible Clinician is bound by the prevailing residency rules, regulations and standards set forth by NCOPE as well as the Code of Professional Responsibility from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC).

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Depending on the operational requirements, size of the Hanger Clinic and laws imposed by state and/or local governments, this position may include some or all of the functions listed below:

  • Collaborate with physicians in the evaluation and analysis of a patient’s need for prosthetic or orthotic services; recommend treatment options to physicians when necessary
  • Examine and evaluate patient's needs in relation to disease and functional loss
  • Formulate design of prostheses/orthoses
  • Select materials/componentry, take cast/measurements, model rectifications/layouts, taking into account new techniques and materials
  • Perform fittings, including static and dynamic alignments
  • Evaluate prosthetic/orthotic device on patient and adjust to assure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work
  • Instruct patient in use of prosthesis/orthosis
  • Identify and reconcile issues/problems to ensure patient satisfaction with device(s) provided
  • Provide follow-up with patients and physicians
  • Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records that support medical necessity
  • Provide information to administrative staff to conduct reimbursement activities
  • Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health care professionals
  • Utilize effective materials management, quality and performance processes to maximize device quality and medical efficacy, maintaining a proper balance with costs and operational/financial performance
  • Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare, HIPAA and other governmental regulations; compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements
  • Provide assistance to other clinical staff
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned

The Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist is specifically trained and educated to independently provide or supervise the provision of comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care.  This includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management. 

 

As a Clinic Manager, the Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist is also responsible for managing clinical operations of practice employees including practitioners, technicians and administrative staff to achieve financial and clinical goals.

2017-13005 O&P Technician US-OR-Portland The Orthotic Technician supports the Orthotist in providing care to patients with disabling conditions of the limbs and spine by fabricating orthoses and their components. Under the guidance and consultation with the Orthotist and or the Orthotic Assistant, the technician fabricates the orthoses to provide maximum fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship. The technician also repairs and maintains the orthotic devices. The technician is expected to keep abreast of all new fabricating techniques, must be familiar with the properties of pertinent materials and must be skilled in the use of appropriate equipment The Prosthetic Technician supports the Prosthetist in providing care to patients with partial or total absence of a limb by fabricating prostheses and their components. Under the guidance and with the consultation of the Prosthetist and/or the Prosthetic Assistant, the technician creates positive molds resulting in maximum fit, function, cosmetics and workmanship. The technician also repairs and maintains the prosthetic devices. � Orthotic and Prosthetic Technicians are expected to perform all duties above.
