Could This Be For You?

The Director of AI Strategy is a single-threaded AI leader, established to ensure the organization’s growing AI investments are governed, sequenced, and adopted with the discipline required to deliver lasting business value. The role is accountable for the ongoing evolution of Hanger’s AI Strategy and for translating the strategy into disciplined, measurable execution. This role owns the AI Roadmap, chairs the AI Strategy Committee, represents the voice of the business in AI solution design and deployment, and ensures that AI investments are sequenced, governed, and adopted in a way that delivers durable enterprise value.

This is not a technology delivery role. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, business operations, and enterprise transformation – connecting AI Strategy to the day-to-day work of Hanger’s clinic network, corporate functions, supply chain, fabrication, and manufacturing operations. The Director will report to the VP of Enterprise Transformation and operates with direct line of sight to an AI Steering Committee chaired by the CEO, and including the CFO, CHRO, and CIO.

Your Impact

  • Own and maintain Hanger's AI Strategy and Roadmap with clear milestones and success criteria
  • Conduct AI Strategy and Roadmap refreshes as technology evolves, data matures, strategic priorities shift, and benefits are realized
  • Build a deep understanding of the business problems, workflows, and operational realities across Hanger and bring that context into every AI initiative to ensure solutions are grounded in how the business works
  • Apply rigorous judgement on whether AI is the right solution to a given problem or opportunity by distinguishing between problems best solved by AI, process redesign, automation, or other solutions
  • Define and maintain AI decision rights, including who approves new use cases, who owns adoption outcomes, and how AI outputs requiring human review are handled
  • Serve as the primary filter between business demand and AI execution by evaluating incoming ideas against other technology investments and recommending prioritization to executives
  • Define and sequence the AI initiative portfolio across six opportunity areas: clinical operations, revenue cycle and financial performance, corporate function efficiency and decision intelligence, supply chain and distribution, fabrication and manufacturing, and clinical access and outcomes
  • Partner with IT and external vendors to ensure AI solutions represent the voice of the business and are built to realize projected business value
  • Own solution integrity through go-live by ensuring the right problem is being solved, the workflow integration is sound, and the conditions for adoption are in place before deployment
  • Chair the AI Strategy Committee that includes subject matter experts from HDT, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Organizational Effectiveness, EPMO, and the Office of Operational Analytics
  • Prepare and present AI strategy updates to the AI Steering Committee
  • Drive AI policy updates in partnership with IT, Legal, Risk, and Security to ensure policy keeps pace with the rate of deployment
