Position Overview:

 

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Materials Supervisor to lead our materials management operations (Purchasing, Shipping/Receiving Warehouse, Inventory). The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with exceptional leadership skills and a thorough understanding of purchasing, inventory management, and shipping processes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and quality, along with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment. The Materials Supervisor will oversee Procurement, Warehouse Shipping and Receiving, and Inventory Management functions.

Your Impact

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

 

  • Reviews receipt of all materials to ensure purchase orders are open and the quality of materials received is correct.
  • Ensures the security and accountability of materials and goods with inventory control.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse space, fostering optimal efficiency and safety for all materials handling activities.
  • Organize daily workflow to produce highest productivity possible within the department while maintaining product quality.
  • Responsible for scheduling and expediting all work through the department.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop department personnel.
  • Build good communications between the warehouse department and its customers, branches, Central Purchasing and all departments within Hanger.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and promote “safety awareness” among employees.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and other governmental rules and regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to all administrative and financial policies and procedures; develop company spirit and teamwork within the department.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years of supply chain warehouse experience.

Preferred

  • BS in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Five years of supervisor/manager experience
  • IATA hazmat safety shipping certification (49CFR) and 5 years of experience in FedEx domestic and international documentation, including familiarity with Harmonized System HS Codes.

  • Display exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory records, optimize storage space, and ensure materials are readily available for production needs.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment by efficiently managing tasks, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities as required.
  • Possess knowledge of the Epicor system, with a preference for experience in its usage. Familiarity with implementing and managing an ERP system is advantageous.
  • Develop and document clear and concise process documents. Effectively train team members on these processes to ensure consistency and operational excellence.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify trends, optimize procurement strategies, and enhance overall efficiency. Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proven supervisory or leadership skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects as well as ongoing production work.
  • Possess a valid Forklift Certification and at least 5 years of hands-on experience operating forklifts. Additionally, be certified to provide forklift training to other team members.
  • Computer skills must include word processing, spreadsheet, and data entry experience.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced, changing environments.
  • Ability to create, develop and maintain positive working relationships.
