The Zone Sales Director (ZSD) leads a team of 6–12 field-based Business Development Managers (BDMs), driving growth through strategic partnerships with health systems, hospitals, and integrated delivery networks (IDNs). This role is critical in positioning Hanger Clinic as a preferred provider of neuromuscular clinical care, including orthotics and prosthetics. The ZSD will execute consultative sales strategies, build strong relationships, and leverage Hanger Clinic’s value proposition to develop strategic alliances with key healthcare organizations, ensuring alignment with the company’s commercial strategy and growth objectives. This role will support the following states: WA, OR, CA, NV, ID, MT, WY, AK and HI.

 

Your Impact

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 6-12 (BDMs), providing strategic guidance and support to achieve regional sales targets and growth objectives.
  • Hire, train, and develop regional sales assets (BDMs) to execute sales strategy and deliver support to internal and external customers consistent with Hanger Values.
  • Analyze and interpret data to gain understanding of healthcare trends in each market.
  • Work closely with the Director of National Account (DNA) Team to implement national accounts strategies with specific IDNs from the DNA funnel.
  • Develop and execute regional sales plans aligned with the company's overall business strategy, focusing on building relationships with health systems, hospitals, and IDNs.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities by engaging with key decision-makers within healthcare organizations, including administrators, clinicians, and procurement teams.
  • Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with healthcare partners, positioning Hanger Clinic as a trusted clinical services provider for orthotics and prosthetics.
  • Negotiate and finalize business agreements, contracts, and vendor partnerships to secure Hanger Clinic’s role as a primary vendor for neuromuscular clinical care services.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to identify healthcare trends and inform market-specific strategies.
  • Coordinate with clinical teams to ensure service delivery aligns with client expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify opportunities and threats, adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Provide regular reports on performance, sales pipeline, and strategic initiatives for senior management.
  • Lead regular business reviews aligned with hospital customer expectations to assess performance and identify opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare sales, business development, or account management, with at least 5 managing regional teams.
  • A valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.

Additional Success Factors

  • Proven success selling into hospitals, health systems, and enterprise-level accounts, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments across multiple departments.
  • Knowledge of the orthotics, prosthetics, and neuromuscular clinical care space, or other healthcare clinical service or clinical consultative device organization channels.
  • Proven track record of selling into the orthopedic, trauma, vascular hospital environment and or adjacent wound care, rehabilitation or physical therapy channels within health systems.
  • Experience coaching a diverse sales team to successfully implement targeted sales strategies, fostering collaboration and alignment within a matrix sales environment. Providing guidance and support to team members with varying roles and responsibilities, ensuring seamless integration into the overall sales process.
  • Deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare landscape, including payer dynamics and the broader healthcare ecosystem’s impact on health systems.
  • Extensive experience with GPO agreements, including working with GPO personnel and effectively communicating the value of GPO partnerships.
  • Experience implementing products or services across entire health systems, ensuring alignment and operational success.
  • Experience creating proposals, responding to RFPs, developing and delivering business reviews.
  • Ability to travel up to 50–60% as required to meet with clients and team members.
  • Ability to design and implement scalable, data-driven processes that drive pipeline growth, revenue attainment, and superior customer experience.

Remote: Pay range of $160,000- $190,000 (salary range) + bonus + commission + benefits. This pay range is posted to comply with wage transparency laws. Hanger salary ranges vary based on skill, ability, knowledge, geographic location and other variables.
