 The Vice President, Fabrication assumes a key leadership role, spearheading fabrication operations for Hanger. This entails a strategic partnership with business unit leaders to align daily operations with goals and objectives. This role plays a pivotal part in fortifying Hanger's fabrication capabilities, contributing significantly to the company’s growth strategy through the implementation of innovative strategies, quality enhancements, and strategic team development.

 

Collaboration is paramount for success, and the VP of Fabrication will work closely with business unit leaders, collaborating with key stakeholders and other cross-functional teams as needed. Collectively, their efforts will be focused on enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, and the overall quality of fabrication across Hanger Fabrication Network. This leader will be expected to thrive in a fast-paced production environment, showcasing a profound understanding of the complexities involved in fabrication practices, particularly within highly customized product realization processes.

 

The Vice President, Fabrication is a hands-on leader, prepared to actively contribute to shaping Hanger's fabrication strategy. This involves defining strategic approaches, including, process optimization, technology application, make versus buy decisions, strategic partnering, and sourcing. The primary objectives are clear: achieve budgetary goals, ensure unwavering safety and regulatory compliance, and maintain the highest standards of quality. In navigating this strategic journey, we value a leader who balances strategic vision with a practical, action-oriented mindset, while guiding their team to achieve concrete and meaningful outcomes. Your Impact

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

 

  • Collaborate with clinical teams to integrate manufacturing capabilities, ensuring alignment with patient needs and desired outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with company and government safety and environmental regulations in fabrication.
  • Establish strategic goals for fabrication, aligning operational activities with Hanger’s goals and values.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships and engage effectively with business, senior leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Drive productivity and efficiency by monitoring processes and implementing cutting-edge technologies across Hanger Fabrication Network.
  • Proficient in the transition and scaling of new products for seamless incorporation into ongoing fabrication processes.
  • Establish a strategy for sites to ensure that delivery of fabricated products meet safety, quality, cost and on-time delivery goals in support of associated business objectives.
  • Develop metrics to assess the efficiency of business procedures in line with organizational goals, analyzing and interpreting data to drive improvements across various disciplines.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with business units to achieve Hanger’s objectives.
  • Lead change management activities within the designated area of responsibility.
  • Establish a safety culture to drive world-class occupational and process safety performance.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and encouraging global collaboration in a geographically and culturally dispersed organization.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in process technology to the operations team.

 

Knowledge and Skill:

 

  • A track record demonstrating strong project management and team building and development skills.
  • Expert knowledge of LEAN Six Sigma practices and methodology.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to set goals, build high performing teams and establish clear strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clinical teams, business units, senior leaders, stakeholders, and a geographically dispersed team.
  • Strong project management skills, including strong decision making, problem solving, resource allocation and strategic planning.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory practices and logistics.
  • Comfortable with use of manufacturing related software including but not limited to MRP, ERP and quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in overseeing off-shore or international operations.
  • Track record of successfully executing large-scale transformation or system implementation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple operation sites with a workforce exceeding 350 full-time equivalents (FTEs).
  • Preferably, hands-on experience in FDA Class 1 and Class 2 medical device environments.

 

Job Complexity:

 

Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.

 

Supervision Received and Exercised:

 

Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers within the company. Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience and Education:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, Operations Management); MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in manufacturing leadership roles, with a minimum of 8 years’ demonstrating progressively increasing responsibilities.

 

Preferred:

  • Proven experience holding a Vice President (or higher) position or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of Orthotic and/or Prosthetic fabrication experience
  • MBA or equivalent business training
  • Multi-site management experience

    Some travel via automobile, airplane and other public transportation may be required.  The employee must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver’s license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hanger’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
