The Procurement Specialist I delivers technical and administrative support focusing on supply chain and procurement department activities.  One of the primary functions of this role is to process “Write In” requests for Hanger Direct vendors which entails collaboration with suppliers and clinics.  Additionally, you will support efforts to analyze and optimize suppliers and products through the different systems and partnerships.  The role contributes to efficiencies, enhancements, audit compliance, and interdepartmental communication and support.  Collaboration with-in cross functional teams is essential to the position. You will use excellent customer service skills and understanding of internal processes for problem resolution.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

Depending on the operational requirements and subject to limitations imposed by state and/or local law, this position may include some or all the functions listed below.

  • Assist Hanger Clinic in procuring components not available in our systems, addressing inquiries related to suppliers, products, pricing, and availability via email, phone, and Microsoft Teams. Follow up meticulously to ensure optimal customer service, particularly for urgent and challenging orders, and coordinate information with other departments.
  • Lead training initiatives for our user base on enhancements and upgrades to Coupa, as well as manage any necessary downtime.
  • Maintain product and pricing records within 2 different systems which includes supplier price changes, product description changes, part number changes or additions and special setups such as content groups if necessary.
  • Key team player and contributor to the enterprise objective to consolidate our supplier base, part numbers as well as product information enhancement on our current product listing.  This includes timely and accurate tracking of processes with keen attention to detail to ensure process goes smoothly from all touch points including data base management and communication to the end user.
  • Participate in projects as requested by Manager.  Will be team member to review new products launched by suppliers and assist in tracking requests, communicate & educate suppliers and respond to questions and any issues in a timely manner.
  • Drive continuous improvement and enhance process efficiency.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
  • Manage special/unique and non-recurring procurement or customer service projects as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

 

 

Job Characteristics

  • Understanding of orthotics and prosthetic supplies and terminology

  • Proficient computer skills including Windows based office technologies (ex. Word, Excel), e-mail and automated billing systems.
  • Ability to use all necessary office equipment, facsimile machines, calculator, postage machine, copiers, etc.
  • Acquires job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.

 

Job Complexity:

Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.

 

Supervision Received and Exercised:

Reports to Supply Chain Manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience and Education:

    • High school education or equivalent
    • Minimum 2 years required in system/technical and procurement in a work capacity experience required.
    • Minimum one year procurement experience in Orthotics and Prosthetics preferred.
    • Coupa experience preferred.
