    The Software Engineer III role analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs used in our over 800 clinics across the country. This role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the development tasks and support requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with timelines and SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with business partners and leadership to keep them updated with status of their requests, participating in the requirement gathering an solution development processes, and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.

    Your Impact

    • Design, create, modify, and maintain templates, documents, and reports within the NextGen EHR system
    • Troubleshoot issues within NextGen EHR templates and/or documents
    • Write SQL queries and stored procedures to interact with NextGen templates
    • Collaborate with business SMEs and technology departments to define deliverables and develop solutions that are reusable across the enterprise
    • Support projects by conducting requirements gathering, leading/participating in sessions with Business Analysts and business SMEs, and conduct technical reviews as required
    • Produce written deliverables as required to support development of Requirement Specifications and Support Documentation - to include architecture diagrams, technical design documentation, and other necessary artifacts required to support system testing and implementation activities
    • Production & implementation support for NextGen users
    • Analyze current and potential templates for conversions and product integration scenarios
    • Support future EHR product and/or template upgrades and software releases
    • Build, enhance, and provide support for software applications built in C#, .NET, JavaScript, and SQL technologies.
    • Ensure SOX, HIPAA, and ITIL compliance 

    Additional Responsbilities


    • Assist in the management of third-party resources conducting NextGen template and/or document development
    • Mentor, train, and support future NextGen template developers within technology department
    • Support Systems/Business Analysts within the team
    • Provide support to Quality Assurance team

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science plus 5 years experience developing NextGen EHR templates and document with a minimum of 3 years' experience developing stored procedures in a SQL Server environment and integrating with NextGen templates "Or" A High School diploma with 9 years of experience.

    • Understanding of SQL Server architecture and internals
    • Understanding of physical and logical database layouts
    • Experience in leading full life cycle implementations with an understanding of all aspects of an implementation project including, but not limited to, planning, analysis and design, configuration, development, conversions, system testing, cutover and production support
    • Must be able to function independently, or as a team member, and have exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders and able to correlate business issues to technical solutions
    • Must organize/prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and projects and function effectively as a small-team member
    • Ability to complete assignments on time with high quality

    Preferred Skills/Experience:

    • Experience using C#, .NET, JavaScript, and HTML very much preferred
    • NextGen Connect (formerly Mirth Connect) certification
    • Knowledge of database and query tuning and optimization is a plus
    • Experience building SQL jobs, ETLs, and SSRS reports
    • Healthcare systems experience (Revenue Cycle Management, Practice Management, Outcomes Assessment, Clinical, Net Promoter score)
    • Strong PC skills with a working knowledge Microsoft Office suite, with strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Project.
