As our Senior Manager of Product Accounting, you will ensure the consistency, timeliness, accuracy and integrity of reports generated and the general ledger to the underlying systems supporting inventory and products. Key responsibilities include accounting activities related to cost of materials (“COM”) and inventory, inventory accounting and reconciliations, reviewing outputs from inventory systems, decision support, systems integration, ensuring financial data is in compliance with US GAAP (“GAAP”), Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) and company standard operating procedures (“SOPs”). As a Sr. Manager, Product Accounting, you will report to the VP of Product Accounting.

Your Impact

  • Drive the timeliness of the monthly close cycle for product accounting overseeing the preparation, review and communication of status related to account reconciliations, journal entries, key reports, and primary representative of function in close status meetings
  • Influence, partner, develop and achieve results through peers in Cost Accounting, WIP Valuation, Raw Materials Valuation, Data Governance, and Materials Management in researching exceptions and resolving potential errors
  • Partner with other functions such as Corporate Accounting, FP&A, IT, Internal Audit and other functions as needed to achieve Hanger objectives by providing timely information, key reports, ad hoc projects, and value-added operational recommendations
  • Lead the team to drive change in the organization and strive for continuous process
  • Serve as primary reviewer ensuring consistency, accuracy and integrity of data and inputs used
  • Design and review work required to satisfy technical requirements of GAAP, SOX and SOPs
  • Prepare, refresh and improve SOPs related to supply chain, COM and inventories
  • Lead the SOX cycle for Product Accounting ensuring the timeliness, precision and accuracy and execution of up to 40 key controls, maintaining the narrative and control matrix for the function, reviewing sufficiency of deliverables, communicating status of controls and potential issues, resolving potential deficiencies with internal and external auditors
  • Serve as a key liaison with internal audit and external audit firm, identifying potential obstacles, communicating and resolving issues effectively related to Inventories and
  • Prepare technical memos supporting company positions on complex technical accounting issues such as acquisitions, purchase accounting, new accounting pronouncements, updates to standards, significant changes to the business, inventory valuation, slow-moving and obsolescence reserves, sensitivity analyses, and other key issues
  • Prepare and review audit schedules, support, analyses for external audit requirements related to inventory and product technical accounting, including footnotes to SEC filings (10-Q,10-K)
  • Integrate acquisitions into Inventory systems and processes as needed
  • Other ad hoc projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred

  • Minimum of five years of financial experience in positions of increasing responsibility and scope aligning to essential functions listed above
  • At least three years’ public accounting firm experience auditing public companies

  • Prior history of designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise financial close and reporting tools including developing and managing a sound internal control environment in a large, multi-location company
  • Proven leader with experience developing people and teams

  • Advanced-level experience using Excel, Word, Power Point, financial modeling, including the ability to work with big data, complex tables and look-ups
