Hanger has an opening for an experienced and talented�Database Administrator�at our corporate office in Austin, TX to largely be responsible for providing operational database services to the organization. We are seeking a highly competent and highly motivated individual in this role. This is a production DBA role. As such, it will require a commitment on your part as well as ours. � Core primary responsibilities of this role would include� - Owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests - Fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs - Reviewing service related reports (e.g. database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs - Responding to database related alerts and escalations - Collaboration with database administration to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems This MS SQL Server DBA role requires a service-oriented mentality. You will exhibit a high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned. The position requires a keen focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, and establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests. The DBA will be capable of initiating and performing changes on production systems, as well as pro-actively�escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established time-frames. � �

Your Impact

  • Experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for MSSQL Server
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
  • Good communication and documentation skills
  • Provide 24/7 on-call rotating server production support
  • Ability to complete multiple simultaneous projects on-time
  • Actively contribute to ongoing process improvement
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS Degree in a related field plus 2 years of related experience Or High School Diploma or G.E.D and 6 years of related experience is required

  • Minimum of 2 years SQL Server experience; solid experience with SQL Server 2008/2012
  • Microsoft SSRS, SSIS, SSAS experience
  • MCDBA/MCITP: Database Administrator certifications are a plus
  • Knowledge of Symantec NetBackup is a plus
  • Knowledge of server, database and query tuning and optimization is a plus
  • Experience with SAN technology (specifically NetApp) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Windows 2008 & R2
  • Familiarity with ITIL is desired
  • Ability to self-learn, act on own initiative and work in a dynamic environment
  • Healthcare and/or financial application experience desired


The ideal candidate will possess the ability to:

  • Plan computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries.
  • Establish and maintain security and integrity controls.
  • Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.
  • Propose and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system
